Andrew Horun is a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, located in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. While enrolled, he competed on the school’s wrestling team. Outside of wrestling, Andrew “Drew” Horun enjoys various musical genres, including classic rock. In early November, the classic rock world lost a prolific session drummer in Pentti “Whitey” Glan. Though many fans will not recognize his name, they will likely recognize his work with classic rock legends Lou Reed and Alice Cooper. Glan got his musical start in a Canadian band called the Rogues, who later became Mandala. In the early 70s, he co-wrote the song I Can Hear You Calling, which served as the b-side to Three Dog Night’s Joy to the World. Shortly after, Glan played the drums on multiple solo albums from John Kay, the frontman for Steppenwolf. In 1973, Glan played drums for a Lou Reed show that would eventually become the albums Rock ‘n’ Roll Animal and Lou Reed Live. Impressed by Glan’s skills, Reed once again hired the drummer to play on his Sally Can’t Dance album. Later in the decade, shock rocker Alice Cooper needed a new drummer after the breakup of his original band. Cooper chose Glan, who ended up playing drums on Cooper’s Welcome to My Nightmare album before serving as the drummer for Cooper’s touring band. After Glan’s death, Alice Cooper took to Facebook to pay his respects, complimenting Glan as “simply the best drummer around,” and “a great guy.” Cooper finished his post by saying, “Canada is less one world class musician.”

As a student athlete at Phillipsburg High School, Andrew "Drew" Horun is a competitive member of the school’s wrestling team. Besides helping coach both wrestling and soccer, Andrew Horun also has work experience as a cook and cashier at Lopatcong Township Pool. Outside of studying and volunteering, he enjoys watching the New York Mets play. The New York Mets invested in a youthful future by selecting 17-year-old Mark Vientos as its second round pick in the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft. The 59th overall selection, Vientos stands 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. A shortstop at American Heritage High School (AHHS) in Plantation, Florida, Vientos' impressive physique affords him the opportunity to also play third base. With his natural size and proven track record at American Heritage, the Florida native is expected to make quite an offensive impact when he enters his 20s. During his senior year at AHHS, Vientos had a batting average of .417 in 92 at bats with an on base percentage of .467. Tommy Tanous, vice president of amateur scouting for the Mets, labels Veintos as a tremendous performer who is capable of shining on the national stage. While attending Phillipsburg High School, Andrew (Drew) Horun participated on the school’s wrestling team and was academically ranked within the top 10 percent of his class. Also involved in volunteering, he has helped charitable organizations such as the Knights of Columbus raise funds for people diagnosed with developmental and intellectual disabilities. During his free time, Drew Horun enjoys following the New York Mets baseball franchise. The New York Mets recently hosted the 2017 Play Ball event at Citi Field for approximately 60 area children. Mets infielder TJ Rivera, reliever Neil Ramirez, and other team members spent the afternoon with players from Elmjack Little League team, helping them with the fundamentals of baseball; pitching, batting, and fielding. A complimentary program sponsored by Major League Baseball, Play Ball encourages youth to participate in baseball and softball activities in both casual and formal settings. The second annual Play Ball campaign is hosted by approximately 200 Major and Minor League franchises and has received more than 300,000 plastic ball and bat sets for distribution. After the event, besides taking home tickets to a future game, the children received autographs from Rivera, Ramirez, and bench coach Dick Scott. |
